What is dental bonding?

Dental bonding utilizes a malleable resin composite to adjust or repair many aesthetic issues. Bonding improves the look of discolored enamel, repairs chipped or broken teeth, closes gaps between teeth, lengthens teeth, changes the shape of the teeth, and protects portions of the roots that can become exposed.

Unlike crowns and veneers, dental bonding can usually be done in-office during one visit.

What are the advantages of dental bonding?

What can I expect from my procedure?

Applying dental bonding is a simple procedure, usually lasting about 30 to 60 minutes per tooth. Little preparation is required prior to the treatment. Dr. Walters uses a shade guide and photography to strategically choose a resin that matches the color of your teeth so that the colors blend naturally.

Dr. Walters prepares the surfaces of your teeth by applying a layer of conditioning liquid so that the resin material can stick. He then applies the resin to each tooth, carefully molding it into the desired shape. An ultraviolet light is used to solidify the resin. The material is then shaped and polished so that it blends harmoniously, disappearing into the smile.
